Introduction
GreenPeak Gardens is a growing eCommerce brand that sells gardening products alongside digital guides, online courses, and a monthly membership for home growers. Over time, their Shopify store had accumulated more than 20 apps, each adding a monthly fee and extra scripts that dragged down page speed and ate into margins. Their team came to us looking for Shopify specialists who could untangle the stack, replace the worst offenders with tools they would actually own, and rebuild the store to run lean and fast without losing a single feature.
Challenges
- Auditing 20+ installed apps to identify which were redundant, underused, or replaceable with native Shopify features.
- Replacing paid apps for analytics, digital product delivery, and bookings without losing any of the functionality the store depended on.
- Rebuilding digital product delivery, license key generation, and email fulfilment as one owned system instead of three separate tools.
- Cutting the scripts and page weight dragging load times down, while keeping the storefront’s look and feel intact.
- Migrating subscriptions and checkout customizations from rented apps into logic the brand owns outright.
- Reducing the recurring monthly app spend without disrupting live orders or the customer experience.
Discovery Phase
GreenPeak Gardens had grown into a busy Shopify store selling gardening products, digital guides, courses, and a monthly membership. Along the way it had picked up more than 20 apps, each with its own fee and its own scripts, and the team suspected this sprawl was quietly slowing the store and eating into margins.
That’s when they brought us in. Before touching anything, we set out to map exactly what every app was doing, what it cost, and whether the store actually needed it.
“We knew our store felt slow and our app bills kept climbing, but we couldn’t see which tools were pulling their weight,” said the GreenPeak Gardens team. “We wanted specialists who could look at the whole stack, not just add another app on top.”
To find the right solution, we audited all 20+ apps against the store’s real requirements, measured how each affected page load, and flagged everything that was redundant, replaceable with native Shopify features, or better rebuilt as code the brand would own. That audit became the blueprint for everything that followed.
Let’s Map Your Store’s Path To A Leaner, Faster Shopify Stack
Solutions
A major part of the GreenPeak Gardens rebuild was replacing three separate paid tools with one app they no longer have to rent. Digital product delivery, email fulfilment, and license key management had each been its own subscription, adding cost and scripts to the store. We consolidated all of it into PayDrop, our own Shopify easy digital downloads app. The full scope was completed in 1 – 2 weeks. Here are the main components of what we delivered.

One App, Three Tools Replaced

We replaced three separate subscriptions for digital delivery, email fulfilment, and license keys with PayDrop, our own Shopify app, giving GreenPeak all three capabilities from a single dashboard.
Automated Delivery and License Keys

PayDrop auto-delivers files the moment an order is placed, generates and manages license keys, and handles expiring download links, so customers get instant access with no manual work from the team.
Digital Subscriptions and Full Visibility

PayDrop also runs digital subscriptions and gives the team a clear view of users, active links, completed downloads, subscriptions, and revenue, all from one analytics dashboard inside Shopify.
Outcome
The impact of this cleanup was both immediate and lasting:
Faster Store
Page load dropped to under 2 seconds after removing bloated apps and rewriting their scripts as clean code, giving every visitor a smoother experience.
Lower Costs
Cutting multiple paid apps removed $3,000 in recurring monthly fees, savings that go straight back into the brand’s margins month after month.
Full Ownership
Analytics, digital delivery, bookings, subscriptions, and checkout now run on tools GreenPeak owns or no longer rents, ending their dependence on stacked app subscriptions.
Leaner Stack
Redundant tools were replaced with native Shopify features or our own apps, so the store does more with far fewer moving parts and far less to maintain.
With these improvements, GreenPeak Gardens now runs on a Shopify stack that is faster, leaner, and fully under their control. Their store is built to grow without the cost and clutter that were quietly holding it back.
